27th January 2019, Castle Bromwich, Birmingham: Employees from Jaguar Land Rover have donated a new Jaguar XF Sportbrake to West Midlands based homeless support charity, Midland Langar Seva Society.
This is the 22nd vehicle to be handed over to good causes across the Midlands and Merseyside by Jaguar Land Rover employees, thanks to a unique charity scheme within the company that also donates funding to local community groups and charities selected by the workforce.
The employee driven charity scheme allows Jaguar Land Rover workers to donate a vehicle to a local charity each quarter to mark meeting improvement targets.
Midland Langar Seva Society was established in Walsall in 2013 to provide basic hot food and drink to those living on the street. Today over 500 unpaid volunteers operate 365 days a year providing around 37,000 meals per month across the UK.
The charity also provides food to disadvantaged children within schools, feeds vulnerable people within safe houses and offers support packages to families who find themselves in food poverty.
Langar is the term used in the Sikh religion or in Punjab for a general or common kitchen / canteen where food is served for free, without prejudice, regardless of race, religion, or background.
In December the charity hosted a Christmas Eve event in Birmingham New Street Station for over 350 vulnerable people.
The donated Jaguar XF Sportbrake will help the Midland Langar Seva Society to offer support to the homeless and will allow them to transport volunteers and essential equipment to in-need areas across the West Midlands region. The car will also give the charity the ability to drive the homeless to attend medical appointments and access support services.
I would like to say how honoured we are to be receiving this wonderful car from Jaguar Land Rover.
I simply can’t put into words how much we are all overwhelmed at this moment, this vehicle will extend our arms even further now, allowing us to further reach our goal of supporting vulnerable people in our society.
On behalf of everyone at Midland Langar Seva Society, we would like to say a huge thank you to everyone at Jaguar Land Rover, Castle Bromwich.

In the last five years the scheme has donated Jaguar and Land Rover vehicles to good causes including Midlands Air Ambulance, Guide Dogs for the Blind, Gro-Organic, Troop Aid and the Ogwen Valley Mountain Rescue Organisation.
On Wednesday 29th January 2020 a team of volunteers from the Castle Bromwich plant will attend a Midland Langar Seva Society homeless support feed event on Albert Street in Birmingham to support the charity and see their donation making a difference in the community.
On behalf of everyone here at Castle Bromwich I’d like to say it is an absolute privilege to be able to donate one of our Jaguar vehicles to such a terrific charity who clearly make a massive impact to people’s lives. We are sure our Jaguar XF Sportbrake will serve them well in their mission to support the vulnerable within our local community.
