STEVE MARSH

Steve was appointed Executive Director, Vehicle Programmes in October 2024 and is responsible for leading next‑generation global vehicle programmes through transformational powertrain and industrial change. 

Passionate about positioning automotive as a progressive, innovative industry, Steve holds the strong belief that careers in vehicle design, engineering and manufacturing are hugely fulfilling and rewarding. Having started his career as an apprentice, a key priority for Steve is bridging skills gaps in mobility and promoting opportunities through training and upskilling initiatives. He is particularly excited about the opportunities that electrification and digitalisation will bring as the industry evolves. 

Steve has over 36 years of international automotive sector experience, rising through the ranks from shop floor to senior leadership. Steve’s career has involved extensive global travel and he has managed high‑performing teams across the United States, France and South Africa. A particular career highlight for Steve was a return to Nissan in Sunderland – taking over as Plant Director almost 30 years after first stepping through the doors as an Apprentice.  

Steve joined JLR in April 2022 from Nissan where he was SVP, Manufacturing and Supply Chain. During his time at JLR Steve has overseen an intensive period of transformation across JLR’s global manufacturing footprint as the company readies for electric vehicle production.  

Steve is a values‑driven leader, who is passionate about fostering inclusivity and drives a ‘people first’ culture of honesty and openness. 

Steve lives in Warwickshire with his wife. He loves to travel and enjoys running – recently completing the Oxford Half Marathon with his two adult children. He has a passion for rugby and golf, and any additional spare time is enjoyed with his family, who hold a collective pact to try something new every month.
