Tuesday 03 December 2019, Shanghai, China – Jaguar Land Rover China has been awarded the inaugural 2020 Chinese Car of the Year Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Reputation Award in recognition of its outstanding work through the China Dream Fund programmes.

The Jaguar Land Rover China Children & Youth Dream Fund, in association with the China Soong Ching Ling Foundation, was named the inaugural winner of the 2020 Chinese Car of the Year Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Reputation Award at the 2019 Guangzhou Motor Show on 21 November.

Jaguar Land Rover was commended by judges for placing CSR and sustainability at the core of its business development, and gave the global automotive company a special mention for its long‑term commitment to China.

The Dream Fund, launched in 2014, is the first CSR fund in the Chinese auto industry exclusively dedicated to helping children and youth, particularly in many of China’s most underprivileged areas, realise their potential so that they can achieve their dreams and shape a brighter future. Programmes include a football coaching partnership with Tottenham Hotspur and a teacher training project called the ‘Dream Class’ and a Road Safety Experience Centre in Beijing.

In total, Jaguar Land Rover China has invested more than RMB 80 million ($11 million) over five years, and the programme will benefit in excess of 500,000 people in China.

Selected by a panel of 38 esteemed judges from across the industry, the award used Prime Research's statistics and influence data to assess the outcomes of the many shortlisted CSR programmes. It was the first time organisers had dedicated a specific category award to recognising outstanding CSR work, highlighting the growing significance of social responsibility and sustainability across the industry.

I hope that Jaguar Land Rover trains more excellent football stars for China through [its Jaguar Football Campus] programme.

The Dream Fund currently supports 4 programmes across China, helping to fund programmes that promote creative education, social care and cultural exchange between China and the UK. Landmark programmes include;

Dream Fund Jaguar Football Campus with Tottenham Hotspur

Since inception, Jaguar Football Campus has benefited more than 160,000 Chinese students and teachers through grassroots Physical Education teacher training and China‑UK Exchange trips. In 2016, the company cooperated with Tottenham Hotspur for the first time, enabling young footballers in China to access the advanced training philosophy from Tottenham Hotspur Football Club. The exchange will take place once again next month at the Tottenham Hotspur training centre, with 30 young people participating.

Dream Class Programme

In September 2016, Jaguar Land Rover launched the Dream Class programme in partnership with Teach Future China – a NGO dedicated to providing volunteer teachers. The Dream Class initiative sought to improve Education provision in Zhaotong, Yunnan Province, through careful investment in the eponymous Jaguar Land Rover Hope School; helping to increasing teacher numbers and raising the overall quality of teaching. Through the programme, teaching ratios have been improved from 1:40 to 1:19 – enabling students there to access more courses than ever before, including Physical Education, art and music.
