Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) announced today in Shanghai an innovative graduate recruitment initiative, recruiting a group of 11 Chinese undergraduates. These China based nationals will be studying Engineering at Warwick, Birmingham, Aston and Loughborough Universities as part of their new JLR graduate programme.

The students will complete a three to fifteen month placement at JLR, within Product Development and Manufacturing. Following their placement, the undergraduates will be invited to a conversion assessment centre and, if successful, will be recruited into JLR full time. The company's vision for the Graduates is that after working in the UK for one to two years, they will be provided with the opportunity to work within engineering in JLR China.

During a recent visit to China, JLR CEO Dr Ralf Speth and HR Director, Des Thurlby met the graduates to discuss JLR's increasing presence in China and the company's ambitious plans for further expansion.

JLR HR Director, Des Thurlby commented: "This new HR initiative emphasizes the growing importance of China as one of JLR's key markets. We are delighted to offer these Chinese undergraduates this great opportunity and welcome them as part of the intake of 100 graduates who joined JLR last month".

These unique international graduates join JLR during one of the most exciting and challenging periods in the history of the company and within the wider automotive industry. As the highest ranking automotive manufacturer in the Times Top 100 Graduate Employers index, JLR has a proven track record in developing the future generation of engineers.

In the last four years alone JLR has employed more than 1,000 graduates who bring to our business a youthful energy and fresh ideas.

The appointments follows last month's announcement that JLR has launched a pioneering new education scheme, the Advanced Skills Accreditation Scheme (ASAS) to boost the skills of its engineers. This scheme will provide thousands of UK engineers with the opportunity to compete Master's Degree module places.

Ends.
