(MAHWAH, NJ) – December 14, 2017 – Jaguar Land Rover today announced its 247hp 2.0L turbocharged four‑cylinder Ingenium gasoline engine, as tested in the 2018 Jaguar XF 25t, has been honored as one of the 10 Best Engines for 2018 by WardsAuto.

For 2018, the team of Wards editors tested 32 new or significantly improved powertrains from a number of automakers that are available in U.S. models with an MSRP under $63,000. This year’s field of 10 Best Engines were selected based on a range of testing criteria including, but not limited to, maximum power output, technology, fuel economy and noise characteristics.

Designed, engineered and produced in‑house by Jaguar Land Rover, the allaluminum Ingenium 2.0L turbocharged four‑cylinder gasoline engine delivers performance, efficiency and refinement without compromise. The 247hp Ingenium powertrain in the 2018 Jaguar XF 25t produces 269lb‑ft of torque, accelerates from 0‑60mph in as little as 6.2 seconds1 on rear wheel drive models and delivers fuel economy of up to 34mpg on the highway2. .

“Jaguar powertrain engineers should be enormously proud of their new Ingenium 2.0L turbocharged four‑cylinder gasoline engine, which we tested in the XF sedan but also appears in several other Jags,” said Tom Murphy, WardsAuto Managing Editor. “Its 247hp makes it more than competitive with other luxuryleaning turbo‑fours, and this engine cruises confidently while delivering plenty of punch for every situation. We look forward to testing this engine again next year, along with the high‑output version making 296hp.”

The Ingenium family of engines – available in both gasoline and diesel fueled models – use a low friction all‑aluminum‑intensive design which provides excellent thermal properties and lightweight construction, improving efficiency and enhancing vehicle dynamics over traditional steel designs.

Ingenium engine technology was first introduced in the 2017 model year XE, XF and F‑PACE models with a 180hp Ingenium 2.0L four‑cylinder diesel; for 2018, the engine range expanded to include the 247hp Ingenium 2.0L turbocharged gas four‑cylinder engine as the entry powertrain for each of those models, as well as the 2018 Land Rover Discovery Sport, Range Rover Evoque and Range Rover Velar. In 2019, Land Rover will introduce the brand’s first‑ever plug‑in hybrid powertrain in Range Rover and Range Rover Sport models. The new Range Rover and Range Rover Sport P400e provides sustainable performance of 398hp and 472‑lb. ft. and an electric‑only range of 31 miles by combining a 296hp 2.0‑liter four‑cylinder Ingenium gasoline engine with a 114hp (85kW) electric motor3,4 .
