(MAHWAH, N.J.) ‑ June 29, 2017 – Jaguar Land Rover is bringing its latest game changers to the Goodwood Festival of Speed this year, in the spirit of the event’s theme: ‘Motorsport’s Game Changers’. Making its global debut at the Festival is one of the most extreme performance Jaguar vehicles ever, the XE SV Project 8. Visitors will be able to see the latest limited‑edition sports car on the Jaguar stand and in the Michelin Supercar Paddock.
A prototype of a new Jaguar XJ derivative will also be at the festival in a special camouflage, and completing final tests on the Goodwood hill climb over the course of the weekend. The car will be fully revealed later this summer.
Also making its dynamic debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed is the newest member of the Range Rover family, the Range Rover Velar. Designed to fill the space between the Range Rover Evoque and the Range Rover Sport, Range Rover Velar brings unprecedented glamor to the Range Rover family. When it’s not tackling the Goodwood hill, it will be available for guests to see on the Jaguar stand.
Ten years on from the introduction of the Jaguar XF nameplate, the all‑new XF Sportbrake will be completing its Wimbledon Trophy Tour at Goodwood, arriving with Andy Murray’s Wimbledon Trophy in the trunk. Jaguar is the Official Car Partner of The Wimbledon Championships and to celebrate the relationship the new XF Sportbrake was revealed in early June on a replica Center Court.
Visitors will be treated to an array of interactive experiences on the stand, including updates to the Jaguar Experience track, with the addition of the Jaguar XE S, alongside the usual passenger rides in the crowd‑pleasing F‑TYPE. Land Rover will also be showcasing the new Discovery on the Land Rover Experience Terrapod, a simulated off‑road circuit that showcases the Discovery vehicle’s go‑anywhere capability.
The Jaguar stand will also feature a special ‘Jaguar Electrifies’ area, hosting a static display of the I‑TYPE Formula E car and appearances from Panasonic Jaguar Racing drivers, Mitch Evans and Adam Carroll. The stunning I‑PACE Concept all‑electric SUV is also on show, ahead of its launch as a production model in 2018.
Guests will have the chance to take their place alongside the Land Rover Ben Ainslie Racing team on their America’s Cup boat in our virtual reality experience, or test your reflexes with the Wimbledon Batak challenge.
The festival will be running from Thursday June 29 until Sunday July 2. Jeremy Hicks, Jaguar Land Rover UK MD, said, “From the new Range Rover Velar to the Panasonic Jaguar Racing I‑TYPE, our Goodwood Festival of Speed presence this year is a real testament to the diversity and breadth of talent in the modern Jaguar Land Rover brand. I’m particularly excited to show the world our latest limited edition sports car, the Jaguar XE SV Project 8. Seeing – and hearing – the most powerful production Jaguar ever tackling the hillclimb is going to be a moment to remember.”
